About Me
Hello! My name is Ms. Zabel and I graduated from Salve Regina University with a Bachelors of Arts and Science in Biology and Secondary Education. I was previously a long-term substitute at Barrington High School where I taught five biology courses. During the summers, I have worked as an interpretive guide at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Connecticut. This experience has helped me with hands on teaching experience from grades K-12. This position allowed me to help teach students as well as the general public about the environment and the surrounding ecosystem. Also, I have also studied in Belize where I learned a lot about ecology and marine biology. I feel this field experience and my previous jobs have helped me become a better educator and more knowledgeable in my content area. Through my experiences inside and out of the country I feel as though students can learn a lot from me! In this upcoming year I will be teaching four ninth grade physics first courses and an AP Environmental Science course. This will be my sixth year at Portsmouth and I cannot wait to see what this year will bring!
